June 23 | The Commission has created a new form: Cover Sheet for Action on Claims on Appeal (WCC H-11 AOA, 6/20/08) to facilitate timely processing of appellate court decisions. The form must be accompanied by a True Test copy of the appellate court's order and case docket entry. Attorneys who are currently registered with the Commission (who possess a valid and current WCC Attorney Code, e.g. A12345) are eligible to subscribe to the Commission's WFMS Online Services. Subscriptions require that legal practitioners validate their identity via common governmental photo identification cards (issued by U.S. or Maryland/state government). On June 16, 2008, the Workers' Compensation Commission will begin offering Attorney Identity validation at the Regional Hearing Sites. The validation service will be available by appointment with participating WCC Court Reporters. This action was considered at a public meeting, held on April 10, 2008, notice of which was given by publication in 35:6 Md. R. 723 (March 28, 2008), pursuant to State Government Article, 10-506(c), Annotated Code of Maryland. Comments will be accepted through June 23, 2008. Final action on the proposal will be considered by the Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission during a public meeting to be held on July 10, 2008, at 10 E. Baltimore St., Baltimore, MD 21202.
See Regulatory Changes for more information. | On May 22, 2008, the Workers' Compensation Commission adopted amendments to Regulation .05 under COMAR 14.09.01 Procedural Regulations, 14.09.01.05 - Notices of Insurance, Cancellation, Reinstatement, and Election of Coverage. This action, which was proposed for adoption in 35:7 Md.R. 761 (March 28, 2008), has been adopted as proposed. Effective Date: June 16, 2008.
