The Commission has received complaints from other business tenants at the Abingdon hearing location about noise and disruptions created by individuals conducting business outside the facility before hearings.  It is requested that attorneys meet with clients and/or opposing counsel in the conference rooms provided at the site for such purposes.  The WCC appreciates the workers' compensation community's compliance and cooperation.

October 20 Workers' Compensation Appeals is updated.
October 2The Commission connected (with other Maryland State Agencies) with "networkMaryland", the public sector's broadband Internet initiative.  This action required the WCC web IP Address to change effective October 1, 2003.  The Internet's DNS (Domain Names Servers) can require up to 72 hours to update themselves and reflect this change, sometimes resultant in "Page Cannot be Displayed" errors when attempting to reach www.wcc.state.md.us, as the DNS server is attempting to connect to the previously assigned IP Address.  Given that this is one of the Internet's routine functions, there should be no disruption in Internet connectivity after Monday, October 6th when most/all DNS servers have detected the change and updated their databases.  Most users in the Central Maryland region were connecting via updated DNS and noticed no disruption.  Our customers' patience through the transition is appreciated.

The Commission is proud to announce the October 15, 2003 opening of its new Southern Maryland Regional Hearing Site in LaPlata, Maryland. 
The site address is Olde Towne Center, 403 East Charles Street, LaPlata, MD  20646.  Please note that the WCC's regional hearing sites do not open until 9:00 a.m.
Directions: U.S. Rt. 301 South & turn left (east) onto East Charles Street (State Rt. 6), proceed through the first traffic light and turn right onto LaGrange Avenue, turn left into parking lot behind the building on the left. The entrance is located in the rear of the building fronting East Charles Street.
