As the Commission prepares for deployment of CompHub,
all insurers will provide a general correspondence email
address. This
email address will be used as a sort of "dropbox" to
ensure electronic delivery of ALL communications to the
insurer from the Commission. This email address may NOT
be:
- the same email as the Insurer Designee
required under COMAR 14.09.12.05D, - the same email
as an Insurer Delegate's email as defined in COMAR
14.09.01.01, or - an attorney's email address who
would represent the Insurer before the Commission.
When CompHub is fully implemented, the Commission
will send all insurer mail generated by CompHub to the
Insurer's general correspondence email address. This
will become the email mailing address for ALL carrier
notices once CompHub has been completely rolled out and
paper notices discontinued. There are several carriers
who are not in compliance with this request despite
multiple letters and telephone inquiries by the
Commission.
Please note that Registration with
CompHub is mandatory and registration requires that the
insurer maintain current, accurate contact information,
including email address. See COMAR 14.09.01.01B(8);
14.09.01.09A(1); 14.09.02.07; LE 9-313. Failure to
provide the required information may result in (1) DELAY
in the insurer receiving notices and orders from the
Commission; (2) FINES in accordance with Labor &
Employment Article ยง 9-313(c), COMAR 14.09.12.03 or .04;
and/or (3) REFERRAL to the Maryland Insurance
Administration for enforcement action. Also, the
carriers who have not provided this email address will
NOT have online access to the system.
All
insurers should check with their Insurer Designee to see
if they are in compliance with this requirement. If not,
the Insurer Designee should immediately send the
Insurer's general correspondence email address to
[email protected] with the following
information:
a. Insurer Name b. Email Address
to be used for Insurer Notifications
